Basic Class Registration NOW OPEN for August 6th Start Date!
July 2nd, 2012 by Melissa

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Created from Color.  Typically, Kristy of Some Odd Girl and I, Melissa of Melissa Made, are sharing tutorials on this site but right now registration is open for our Basic Created from Color Course.  This course offers techniques using your Copic markers from the first time you pick up a Copic marker.  However, if you’ve played with your markers but have never had a lesson on how to use them this class is for you!  Here are some important facts to know about the Basic Created from Color Course:

  • Class Start Date – August 6th – October 14th – 7weeks of lessons and 3 weeks of extra time to re-watch lessons, print lessons and finish final project.
  • Online Format – You will access courses on a weekly basis (2-3 lessons a week).  Classes will be up at 9am and you can access them at anytime.  This format allows you to work whenever YOU can.
  • Individual Attention and Critique with a 40 student class limit
  • Private Preloaded Lessons with Videos
  • Private Class Forum and Facebook Group
  • Private Class Gallery for uploading homework
  • Lessons that range from Copic Basics to finishing a final project – 7weeks
  • Downloadable Content
  • You WILL NOT be Copic Certified at the end of our class but the information taught is by Two Copic Intermediate Certified Instructors

Again, this class session will begin on August 6th and students will have access to the Class Blog thru October 14th. We will be having 7 weeks of lessons with downloadable content, videos, access to our student only forum and gallery where you can interact with your teachers and students while you take the class. The class is presented in a blog format with lessons posted 2-3 times per week, once they have been posted they stay up for the duration of the class so you can go back and work at your own pace or work on the lessons daily. We want you to be able to come into the class as a complete newbie and leave with confidence!

We’ll be covering topics such as Smooth Coloring and Blending Techniques, Coloring Hair, Skin, Clothing and Fur, Using your Colorless Blender, Tricky Situations like coloring Reds, Blacks and Whites, Basic Light Sourcing and more!

We’d like to share two students images from our last  Created from Color Basic Class.  These images show the striking improvement both students made.  Each student practiced and submitted homework throughout the class and greatly improved their coloring skills.  Please take the time to visit these two fabulous ladies and their blogs!  Both are talented and wonderful people!

Brenda from  Infinite Possibilities

Candace from Creatively Candace

*A special thank you goes out to Brenda and Candace for allowing us to share your progress in our class.*

Each has their own personal style, that we encourage students to work on, but both had wonderful improvement :)

We will also be offering *optional* class kit for purchase to registered students, that you will be able to purchase the from Oozak.  Rusty of Oozak has GREAT customer service and is able to offer a fabulous price for the kits and super quick shipping.  Markers are not included but we urge you to pick up any colors you would like to use for the class.

This kit will include:
-Memento Black Tuxedo Dew Drop

We wanted these 2 designs to be able to cover almost everything we’ll be working on thru the course, and I think they’re a lot of fun! Say hello to Celebration Mae and Spot!

In the mean time here is a little about our Instructors, Kristy and Melissa…

  5. Michelle S says:

Woohoo! Finally worked for me after stopping and re-loading the page a few times. Maybe there was a time delay in getting from the US to the UK! ;0) So glad it worked in the end, can’t wait for class, thank you!

  7. Rozelle says:

I only have Promarkers, would I still be able to take part in this class?

    • Kristy says:

To be frank and honest with you Rozelle, neither Melissa or I have any experience with ProMarkers or how they compare to Copics. We go over a lot of techniques and info that is copic specific but you would know better than I would if the techniques would be applicable to ProMarkers as well. You would have to do some fill in the blanks on numbers and such but as you have used them and I haven’t I’m going to leave it up to your discretion as to if you think the class would benefit you. I know that’s not a clear cut answer but like I said, I want to be totally honest :) Thanks tons!

  8. Lizzy says:

I am thinking of buying Copic caio markers, will you be using the sketch markers? Do you give details of the pen colours you will be using as this course would perhaps be a good start for me…

  9. Rozelle says:

Thanks Kristy. Another question though, would us folk in the UK be able to buy the class pack too? Wasn’t sure if it would arrive in time.

  10. Leah says:

Hi Kristy. Would you mind checking to see if there is a problem with paypal? I am trying to register and pay but paypal is not recognizing my username/password. Thank you for any help you can provide:)

    • Leah says:
